Abstract

The advancement of digital technology and the widespread use of electronic devices even reaching rural areas have brought significant changes to the dynamics of family relationships. This study aims to describe the state of parent-child relationships amid the use of digital technology, as well as to explain the forms, processes, and roles of family guidance. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, involving four pairs of parents and their children. The findings reveal that family guidance is implemented through three interrelated key strategies: (1) establishing open communication, in which parents act as discussion partners to narrow gaps in understanding; (2) setting mutually agreed rules for device usage to reduce conflicts; and (3) strengthening quality time together through offline activities to rebuild emotional bonds. Without proper guidance, technology may act as a barrier; however, when guided appropriately through these three strategies, it can be managed collaboratively and ultimately serves to deepen emotional closeness.
