Abstract

This research aims to explore and understand the value of meaningful life for people with nongenetic disabilities in Palopo City through a qualitative phenomenological approach. Using data triangulation methods, this research combines in-depth interviews, observation, documentation and document analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of the life experiences of the informants. A total of four informants consisting of various backgrounds and types of non-genetic disabilities participated in this research. The criteria for determining informants include people with non-genetic disabilities, men and women, ages 35-64 years. The research results show that the value of meaningful life for people with non-genetic disabilities is influenced by factors such as positive self-acceptance, sources of motivational support, social roles, positive activities, independent roles, and inspirational figures. Apart from that, the cause of disability, recovery period, access to mobility, and positive meaningfulness of life play an important role in building the informant's sense of meaningfulness in life. This study provides in-depth insight into the complexity of the meaning of life for people with non-genetic disabilities in Palopo City, and suggests the importance of adequate social support and accessibility for them. This research also highlights the need for a holistic approach in addressing issues related to non-genetic disabilities, including community-based interventions and inclusive policies to improve their overall well-being. Keywords: The value of the meaning of life, people withn on-genetic disabilities
