Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-control, fear of missing out (FOMO), and financial literacy on gamers' impulsive characteristics. This study uses a quantitative approach with survey techniques through the distribution of questionnaires to active gamers, with a total of 77 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the relationships between variables. The results of the study showed that self-control, FOMO, and financial literacy each had a significant influence on the impulsive characteristics of gamers. Although statistically self-control indicates a positive relationship direction, conceptually the increase in self control is related to a decrease in impulsive behavior. Meanwhile, FOMO has been shown to significantly increase impulsive behavior tendencies. Interestingly, financial literacy also shows a positive influence on impulsive behavior, which is a finding that is not in accordance with theoretical expectations (unexpected finding). This indicates that financial literacy in certain contexts can increase individual confidence in financial decision-making, thus encouraging impulsive behavior. These findings suggest that gamers' impulsive behavior is influenced by the interaction between psychological and financial factors in the digital environment. This research contributes to the development of the literature on financial behavior in the digital economy, especially in the context of online games, and provides practical implications regarding the importance of strengthening self control and emotion regulation in financial decision-making.
