Abstract

This study aims to determine how much the relationship between self-efficacy and public speaking anxiety among students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo. (1) description of self-efficacy in students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo (2) description of public speaking anxiety in students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo (3) the relationship of self-efficacy to public speaking anxiety among students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo. The independent variables in this study are self-efficacy (X) and public speaking anxiety (Y) as the dependent variable. The population in this study were class VIII.3 and VIII.7 as many as 61 students. Data collection using a questionnaire method. The data analysis technique used is the percent correlation analysis technique. The result of this study is that self-efficacy has a negative relationship with public speaking anxiety among students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo, which is indicated by a coefficient value of 0.408 with a significance value of 5% or p (0.00 <0.05). The t-test obtained t-count of 3.780 and from the output obtained R Square 0.195 so it can be said that the self-efficacy variable has a strong enough relationship to public speaking anxiety.
