Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the extent of the impact of the flood disaster on the psychological conditions of early childhood in Meli village, North Luwu district. In order to be a reference material and information in dealing with children who are experiencing psychological disorders due to disasters. The research method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. In collecting data, researchers used the method of observation, interviews and documentation of two main informants and two supporting informants. Data analysis in this study used an interactive method which was operationalized with several stages, namely the first stage was the method of collecting research data (reducing data), how and when to find time to collect large amounts of data according to the specified time period using observation, interview and documentation methods. Then plan and select regarding its relevance to the research focus. The second stage is displaying data or presenting data, in which the researcher conducts analysis to arrange data systematically so that the data obtained can explain or answer the problem being studied. The third or final stage is the follow-up analysis of the previous stages in order to draw conclusions or verify the previous data set. The impact of the flood disaster on the psychological condition of early childhood in the village of Meli is that it causes children to experience anxiety for quite a long time. Children feel anxious when it rains, and children also feel scared when they hear sounds or sounds that seem loud. The treatment that was carried out was that researchers carried out psychosocial services while at the Meli village refugee camp and made home visits after the children returned home. The result is that within two years after the disaster, children's anxiety begins to decrease, this is indicated by the social activities of children who were previously less active, now they are active, the anxiety that is often experienced when it rains is now starting to decrease. This means that all the efforts that have been made by the researchers have had positive results, even with a long enough period of time, namely to help reduce anxiety in children.
