Abstract

The research objective was to find out whether there was an effect of the ability to dribble the right side with the right hand and dribble the left side with the left hand on the lay up skills of the basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo. This research is a quantitative research with the experimental method defined as a method used to find the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. The population used in this study were all male students in the basketball extracurricular activity at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo. The sample consisted of students participating in the basketball extracurricular activity at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo totaling 20 male students, so all students would be sampled in this study. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. Data analysis techniques using the SPSS application program version 22. The results showed that (1) there was a significant effect of the ability to dribble the right side with the right hand on the lay-up skills of basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo, with a t = count of 10.474 > t = table of 2.306 and a Sig value of (2) -tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. (2) There is a significant effect of the ability to dribble the right side with the right hand on the lay up skills of basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo, with a t = count of 8.510 > t = table of 2.306 and a sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. (3) There is a significant difference in the ability to dribble the right side with the right hand and the left side dribble with the left hand on the lay up skills of basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo, the average value of the right side dribble lay up is 8 .20 and as big as a dribble lay up on the left side of 5.80 and a sig.
