Abstract
The objectives of the study are: 1) To find out whether there is a contribution of arm strength to shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students. 2) To find out if there is a contribution of limb strength to shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students. 3) To find out whether there is a joint contribution of arm strength and leg strength to shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students. The research method uses descriptive research with independent variables of arm strength and leg strength and variables tied to shooting ability. Thus, the population in this study is all basketball extracurricular students of SMPN 5 Palopo. Based on this proposal, the technique used in sampling is porpusive sampling, which is a certain consideration technique by researchers. Since there are 20 students who participate in basketball extracurricular activities, all will be used as samples in the study. The results of this study concluded that: 1) There was a significant contribution of arm strength to the shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students by 85.0%. 2) There is a significant contribution of limb strength to the shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students by 54.7%. 3) There is a joint contribution in arm strength and leg strength to the shooting ability in the basketball game of SMAN 5 Palopo students by 88.7%.
